What we do

FIBRE

Fibre is the essential raw material used to create yarn, the building block of most textiles. It can be derived from natural or synthetic sources, each offering unique characteristics suited to different applications.

What We Offer:

Natural Fibres

  • Plant-Based: Cotton, flax (linen), hemp, ramie

  • Animal-Based: Wool (sheep), alpaca, cashmere (goat), silk (silkworm)

Synthetic Fibres

Acrylic, polyester, nylon, rayon (semi-synthetic)

Blended Fibres

Combining fibres (e.g., cotton-polyester blends) allows yarn manufacturers to balance comfort, elasticity, warmth, and durability.

YARN

Yarn is a long, continuous strand of fibers that is used to make textiles, fabrics, and garments. It’s the essential material used in knitting, crocheting, weaving, and sewing, serving as the link between raw fiber and finished fabric.

Types of Yarn

Based on Fibre Content:

  • Natural Yarn: Made from fibers like cotton, wool, alpaca, or silk.

  • Synthetic Yarn: Includes acrylic, polyester, and nylon.

  • Blended Yarn: Combines two or more fibers (e.g., cotton-acrylic) to enhance properties.

Based on Structure:

  • Single-ply: One strand of spun fiber.
  • Multi-ply: Multiple strands twisted together for strength and texture.

  • Textured yarns: Bulked or crimped for stretch and softness.

KNITS

Knits are fabrics made by interlocking loops of yarn, rather than weaving them at right angles like in woven fabrics. This looping structure gives knits their unique characteristics: stretch, softness, and flexibility.

Types of Knits

Weft Knits

  • Made with a single yarn looped across a row.

  • Common types:

    • Jersey – soft, lightweight, used in T-shirts

    • Rib knit – stretchy, used in cuffs and collars

    • Purl knit – has a textured, reversible surface

Warp Knits

  • Made with multiple yarns that run vertically.

  • Common types:

    • Tricot – smooth on one side, used in lingerie

    • Raschel – textured, used in lace or mesh fabrics

WOVEN

Woven fabrics are made by interlacing two sets of yarns at right angles — warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal). This crisscross structure creates a fabric that is generally strong, stable, and less stretchy than knits.

Characteristics of Woven Fabrics

Durability: Strong and long-lasting

Stability: Holds shape well; doesn’t stretch much

Less Flexible: Compared to knits, woven fabrics are more rigid

Frays at the Edges: Needs to be hemmed or finished properly
